Why choose Altea?

Altea is probably the premier holiday resort on the Costa Blanca.

It is a well preserved, up-market, hill-top town with a Spanish atmosphere.

It has a busy fishing port and yacht harbour. The preserved old town typical white-washed houses with cobbled streets.

The fine blue and white domed church is the chosen symbol of the Costa Blanca.

There are no tower blocks in Altea nothing over five floors can be built - yet it is near enough to all the modern entertainments of Benidorm if you wish.

Altea is close to some glorious wild country and mountains where you can walk on good marked, trails and paths. One not overly energetic walking group leaves each Saturday morning at 10 am, just near the flat. It is a largely English group, with some Dutch and a few Spanish.

Altea has a wide choice of excellent restaurants and many are only a short stroll from the flat. The shops, and the wonderful Tuesday fruit and veg market, have a wealth of superb value food, and some very fine wines. The cost of living is still about 30% less than the U.K. according to a Sunday Times survey.

A few miles down the coast you can visit the Calpe Rock which rises sheer out of the sea for 1,000ft. It is not a difficult climb and the  views are well worth the effort!

A pleasant seaside walk from the flat takes you to the restored Victorian Villa Gadea where there is the Yehudi Menuhin Music Foundation.

Altea has been chosen by UNESCO as an International Centre for Music with many concerts and cultural events. A new 1,000 seat Concert Hall is just five  minutes from the flat, which we call – "Casa Miguel".
